[Indie for dummies] Laurel Collective / Heartbeat underground

Laurel Collective - Heartbeat underground (2012)

Laurel Collective are an experimental pop outfit from London. Their early recordings garnered attention from the likes of Huw Stephens, XFM's John Kennedy and Steve Lamacq (Single of the Week on BBC Radio 1), leading to a packed festival season (including a BBC Introducing slot at Glastonbury). Since then, they have been invited to play at SXSW as well as securing performances at The Great Escape, Lovebox, Blissfields and support slots with the likes of Maccabees, NYPC, The Villagers and The View in the UK. More recently, the band won the prestigious Red Stripe Music Prize (2010), have performed a live session for BBC 6 Music and have continued to grow in notoriety on the live circuit, playing nights for John Kennedy (XFM), Moshi Moshi and Tape Club Records. This year will see the release of their long-awaited first album.
